What
does hosting mean?
Hosting is the provision of computer facilities for storage of your web
pages, which is permanently connected to the Internet, has reliable power
supply with backup, and is continually monitored to ensure its constant
availability. There will also be back-ups taken of the data on a regular
basis to minimize the impact of any problems that may occur with the computer
- however, as with any data stored on computer, you should also keep a
copy of any information that you store on our servers.
How
many email addresses can I have?
You can use as many email aliases (the bit before the @ symbol is the
alias - i.e.: - (alias@yourdomain.com) as you wish. However, the number
of separately identified POP3 accounts you have is limited to the quantity
your particular hosting product includes. (See Hosting Package above)
What
is a POP3 account?
The easiest way of considering a POP3 is as a box in a sorting office.
Mail for a particular group of people (members of one family, or of one
organization) is placed in that box. With email, each individual member
of a family, or departments in an organization, can have a separate POP3
if they need to - so that when they connect to the Internet to retrieve
mail, they will only have access to the mail that has been put into their
POP3. Each POP3 will have a 'user name' and 'password' associated with
it.
This won't limit the number of email addresses (or aliases) that you can
use, merely the number of separate boxes that the mail can be sorted into.
So one POP3 account could be
set to receive mail addressed to info@eastvincent.com, parks@eastvincent.com,
and secretary@eastvincent.com - or alternatively the mail could be routed
to three POP3 accounts, allowing each to be collected at different times
by different people from different locations.
